Graduate Walks Into London Job

A history graduate who had built up over £20,000 of debts since leaving university has turned himself into a walking advertisement.

David Rowe, who said he had sent out hundreds of CVs and offered to work for free, could not find himself a job. After a bet with his father he decided to pace around London's Fleet Street area with a sandwich board emblazoned with: "Job wanted - history graduate - interview me".

His efforts have led to one offer of a job from a London recruitment firm.

A ballot of 120,000 Royal Mail workers voted overwhelmingly to walk out in a bitter row over jobs and pay. Union leaders will meet next week to decide the timing of the strikes, which could start by the end of the month.
